Adam Silverman's richly textured way with clay
The surfaces of Adam Silverman's new clay pots at Edward Cella feel generated by organic forces over time. Some are crusty and cratered, like hardened lava. Some bear the deep cracks of parched earth. Others look sheathed in creeping lichen ... after layered glazes and multiple firings, they're striking and inventive when it comes to texture and color.

Q&A with Artist Adam Silverman
In conjunction with California Design, 1930–1965: “Living in a Modern Way,” LACMA invited artist Adam Silverman to create a limited-edition work. The ceramic multiple he created is very much inspired by the time period that is examined in LACMA’s exhibition and is made in homage to the architecture and design of the era.

Reverse Archaeology
The Los Angeles potter Adam Silverman always dreams big, far beyond the scale of the distinctive pieces he makes for Heath Ceramics (where he is studio director of Heath Los Angeles) and for his own Atwater Pottery label. For most of the last year his latest dream has taken him to Fort Worth, where construction is underway on Renzo Piano’s addition to Louis Kahn’s iconic Kimbell Art Museum.
